A decade is a long time to sit with an idea. For PERSONAS, the Bristol-born producer returning to the fore with his debut two-track single, that time hasn't been wasted. The project marks a confident re-entry into the 140 and dubstep underground, and announces a producer who has clearly found his footing.

What sets it apart is its refusal to separate two worlds that rarely meet. The kind of music that wouldn't sound out of place soundtracking a Soul Calibur bout or an iconic Hunter x Hunter moment, except it hits at 140 and carries the full weight of the dubstep underground with it. Orchestral strings, cinematic tension, and the kind of low-end presence that belongs in a dark room are woven together without compromise on either side.

It's a sound PERSONAS has long chased, that feeling you get from a Joe Hisaishi composition, the sense that music can hold genuine emotional weight, transplanted into a genre not always associated with that kind of depth. On this evidence, the vision has landed. There's very little in the 140 space that sounds quite like this. A production that functions as a score in the truest sense, while remaining unmistakably rooted in the underground.

Ten years on, PERSONAS isn't picking up where he left off. He's arrived somewhere further.
